Allergy and Skin Problems are our specialty.
Complete allergy workups can determine the cause of problems and suggest
ways of controlling problems and itching.
Dental care is often overlooked by pet
owners. Infected teeth can lead to other infections of the heart,
liver, and kidneys, which are common causes of death in older pets.

ALLEN RECEIVES SERVICE AWARD
Dr. Sam Allen
Bloomington, MN—Dr. Sam Allen was named recipient of the 1998 Distinguished
Service Award by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association at their
Annual State Meeting. The Award was presented by Dr. Mary Olson,
president-elect of the organization, on Thursday, February 4, 1999.
Dr. Allen, a Wayzata resident, served as president
of the MVMA 1995-96, is currently Finance Chair, and on the Web Site Committee.
He served for many years as Program Chair and also helped to plan the summer
meetings. He was president of the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary
Service, president of the Animal Care Foundation, and a member of the American
Academy of Veterinary Dermatology, as well as the Academy of Veterinary
Allergy.
Dr. Allen established the Northwest Animal
Hospital in Plymouth, now in its 24th year, and is active in the community
as a founding sponsor of the free concerts at Lake Minnetonka organized
by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce and assists with their annual "Dachshund
Races." In addition, he sponsors many youth sport teams and has been
a tireless volunteer at Wayzata Community Church.
Dr. Allen has also spread goodwill for the
veterinary profession by being featured regularly for many years on WCCO
Radio for call-in programs with Boone and Erickson, and on "Ask Dr.
Sam."
